Kalee De France, PhD

Dr. Kalee De France is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan). Kalee started their career as a counsellor for justice involved youth, as well as low-income youth and families with mental health concerns. This frontline work has provided a guiding framework through which Kalee now explores the many ways that adversity, such as poverty, disrupts healthy trajectories of development. In particular, Kalee focuses on the roles that differential patterns of emotions and emotion regulation may act as key mechanisms linking adversity and disparate developmental outcomes. Through interdisciplinary approaches, Kalee explores the intersection of psychology and sociology to advance our understanding of developmental processes in Canadian society.
