Cohort 2

Sonya is a Master of Science (MSc) student in the Community Health Sciences program at the University of Manitoba. She completed a BA Advanced (BA Adv.) in 2018 and a BA Honours (BA Hons.) in 2021, both in Psychology, at the University of Manitoba. Her current project examines the relationship between childhood emotional abuse and emotional neglect with the development of disordered eating behaviours. Sonya is currently a student research assistant in the CARe Lab and is being advised by Dr. Tracie Afifi.

Research interests: resiliency, child development, mental disorders, adverse childhood experiences, policy, and prevention/interventions programs.
