Nicolas Berthelot, PhD
Nicolas Berthelot is a clinical psychologist and a Professor at the Université du Québec à Trois Rivières, and holds the Canada Research Chair in Developmental Trauma. His research focuses on risk and protective factors in the context of child abuse and neglect and on the intergenerational trajectories of childhood trauma. In order to counteract the negative impacts of trauma over generations, Dr. Berthelot has developed a unique prenatal intervention: the STEP program. The concept of mentalization of trauma, an innovative approach in developmental and clinical psychology, also stems from his work and permitted to shed new lights on resilience processes in survivors of childhood trauma.
