Jennifer Cordeiro, PhD Candidate
Jennifer is a doctoral candidate in Education working under the supervision of Dr. Lindsey Jaber, a registered clinical counselling school psychologist, a child and youth mental health leader, and a trauma researcher at the University of Windsor. Jennifer has an eclectic educational background, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy. She then pursued a Master’s in Theology and Marriage and Family Therapy. After 23 years of providing clinical counselling as a Registered Social Worker to children, youth, and families, she pursued her PhD in Education. During her educational hiatus, she and her partner raised three children who were adopted through the Children’s Aid Society. All three children had experienced different levels of child maltreatment, and all needed special education support. Jennifer’s educational, professional, and personal experience ignited her doctoral research, which encompasses out-of-home care and special education, focusing on how educators, foster parents, and child protection workers best support youth in out-of-home care while engaging in collaborative relationships.
