Janelle Bo Ram Lee, MSc

Janelle is a doctoral candidate and a CIHR Vanier Scholar in Epidemiology at the Cumming School of Medicine, the University of Calgary. She is specializing in the study of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), parenting, and child development, under the mentorship of Drs. Nicole Letourneau and Kirsten Fiest.

 

She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Community Health Sciences from the University of Manitoba. Her Master’s thesis focused on the relationship between exposure to intimate partner violence on developmental vulnerability in children, utilizing administrative data from the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy.

 

Janelle’s doctoral research leverages data from the Alberta Pregnancy Outcomes and Nutrition (APrON) longitudinal cohort to explore the pathways between ACEs, parenting, and child behavior problems. She also has a strong passion for data science and research methodology.

 

In addition to her academic pursuits, Janelle serves as a scientific associate at the Palix Foundation. She is also a scholar and co-applicant of the Alliance Against Violence and Adversity (AVA) health research training platform. In this role, she engages in applying implementation science to disseminate the science of ACEs and resilience to various stakeholders and the public.
