Elisa Romano, Ph.D., C.Psych

I have been working as a professor in the School of Psychology (University of Ottawa) since 2004. I am also engaged in clinical work with young people and families as a registered clinical psychologist in Ontario. My research program is committed to promoting the mental health of children and youth who have experienced child maltreatment and family violence, along with supporting the needs of families and schools who are integral to young people’s well-being. My research is grounded in child rights-based, trauma-informed/responsive, and ecological system approaches. I am fortunate to have received tri-council and internal funding to support various projects. My research is carried out in collaboration with graduate and undergraduate students, along with academic and community-based partners.
