Brandon Hey, PhD Student

Brandon Hey, PhD Student - Cohort 1

Brandon Hey (he/him) is a third year PhD student in the clinical and counselling psychology program at the University of Toronto (UofT). He has a master’s degree in community psychology, and has supported various policy research and systems planning roles, including at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health’s Provincial System Support Program (PSSP), and the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC). Under the expert guidance of Dr. Jeffrey Ansloos, Brandon is deeply engaged in research pertaining to Indigenous suicide prevention, life promotion, perinatal/early childhood mental health, carceral mental health, and child welfare. His dissertation is exploring life course dimensions of suicidality and its prevention among Indigenous fathers. Brandon is deeply passionate about implementation science, health equity, and decolonialization, and draws on multiple qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method, and Indigenous research methods to support social action.
