Miranda holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a joint major in Psychology and Criminology from Simon Fraser University. In 2026, she graduated from the University of the Fraser Valley with her Master of Social Work, accompanied by the Governor General’s gold medal award.

Miranda has experience researching the intersections between climate change and mental health. Her master’s major paper focused on the important relationship between climate change and impacts on children – specifically focusing on social work’s role in mitigating and responding to changing climate realities. Recently, Miranda has begun assisting with organizing a facilitated workshop focusing on root causes and subsequent community responses to human trafficking. This research blends community participatory action research with traditional knowledge gathering. Miranda also has experience with research informed governmental policy creation and implementation. This opportunity was a chance to blend her research experiences with research-backed frontline policy creation.

Miranda works within the child protection sector with an emphasis on afterhours emergency response. Her dynamic research experience informs her front-line social work practice, ensuring that both aspects are responsive to changing policy and climate related realities. She looks forward to joining this important work with the Childhood Adversity and Resilience Research Team.
